On June 4, Luo Jianbin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tsinghua University, visited the C&U Group Shanghai production base. C&U Group Chairman Zhang Tongsheng, Director of the Board of Directors Long Shaosheng, Shanghai C&U Group General Manager Jiang Zhiqiang and other leaders warmly received and held talks.

Academician Luo and his entourage successively visited the groups tapered bearing production plant, rail transit bearing production plant, and group technology center. Wherever he went, Academician Luo carefully checked the production process and quality control process, understood the basic situation of the product application industry and the market, and exchanged information with the on-site engineers on the content of interest.

Subsequently, the two sides held a discussion. Chairman Zhang Tongsheng introduced the development of the company. C&U Group was founded in 1984. It has more than 20,000 employees and assets of 11.09 billion yuan. In 2018, it achieved sales revenue of 17.13 billion yuan and produced 1.203 billion sets of bearings. It has eight bearing production bases, capable of producing an inner diameter of 1.0mm to an outer diameter of 4000mm. There are more than 30,000 kinds of bearings in the range. He pointed out that the current international situation is complicated, the downward pressure of the market economy is great, and there is still a gap between domestic bearing companies and world-class companies. As one of the worlds top ten bearing companies, C&U Group has the responsibility to make contributions to major equipment bearings in Chinas rail transit, aerospace, wind power, nuclear power, shield machines, machine tools and other major equipment. To this end, C&U must build a new generation of high-quality workforce that has both professional theoretical foundations and high practical capabilities. Chairman Zhang Tongsheng hopes that more Tsinghua teachers and students will enter the people-oriented and understand C&U, and welcome young talents from well-known universities in my country to come to C&U to show their talents and seek common development.

Academician Luo expressed strong support for C&Us development of major equipment bearings, and supported Tsinghua students to come to C&U for common development. At the same time, he welcomed C&U and Tsinghua to develop talent and project cooperation. The two parties also exchanged views on the development and application of high-end bearings and the application of environmentally friendly industrial lubricants.
